Methodology for Regional Development Strategies Formulation in Ukraine: Improvement of the Procedure Basing on the Gained Experience
On February 5, 2009 Regional Governance and Development project in association with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine held the Round Table “Methodology for Regional Development Strategies Formulation in Ukraine: Improvement of the Procedure Basing on the Gained Experience” in Kyiv. The main objective of this event was to review and make required amendments to the “Methodological Recommendations on Regional Development Strategies Formulation” approved in 2002.
In 7 years since the Methodological recommendations were approved a lot of changes have been introduced in the society as well as in the world. Particularly, in Ukraine significant practical experience on formulating regional development strategies has been accumulated. Analysis of the best practices and findings in this field could become a good background for improvement of existing document in the constantly changing environment.
Round Table participants reviewed the existing document and made their suggestions on how to introduce changes in line with the current situation, in particular, with regard to regional development strategies implementation and monitoring. Suggestions made by the participants were based on their practical experience of regional development strategies formulation and implementation.
The next step should be processing of the received proposals and their further submission to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
