Canadian Urban Institute (CUI)
The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in urban areas across Canada and around the world. We bring together experts from different disciplines to connect people, resources and ideas to build strong communities and equitable, sustainable and competitive urban regions. As an independent body, the Institute is committed to improving policy making, governance and management for city regions by encouraging a better understanding of contemporary urban issues. We do this by:

Connecting urban decision-makers at all levels of government and within the community and business sectors to enhance policy making and management of urban areas.

Convening leaders, decision-makers and stakeholders to facilitate the exchange of information and to foster partnerships for development.

Communicating ideas and know-how through applied research and capacity development to bring about more co-operative and integrated approaches to urban issues.

The CUI operates through four centres of activity:

1) Education and Research,
2) Centre for the Development of Community Assets,
3) Urban Leadership, and
4) International Partnerships.
