Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Zaporizhzhia region is situated in the southeast of Ukraine and borders the Azov Sea. There are just over 2 million inhabitants in the region, with 76.6% of the population living in urban areas, of which 42% live in the capital city. The transportation industry in Zaporizhzhia is well developed and includes highways and railways, the Zaporizhzhia River Cargo Port, the Berdians’k seaport (on the Azov Sea), and the Zaporizhzhia regional international airport, which is one of the few profitable airports in Ukraine.

The basis of Zaporizhzhia’s economy is both the industrial and agricultural sectors. Key sectors include: electro-power production, metallurgy, machine building, metal working, chemicals, automobile manufacturing, manufacturing of consumer goods, light and foodstuff industries, fruits and vegetables, grain, and sunflowers. Investors are attracted to Zaporizhzhia due to its fertile soils, inexpensive and qualified labour resources, significant production capacities of industrial enterprises, and favourable geographical location for exporting.
