Research Mission to the Czech Republic - July 2006
From July 19 to July 22 a research mission to the Czech Republic was organized for Chris VanDooren, Canadian project manager, Yuri Polianski, Ukrainian project manager, Ihor Sanzharovskyi, senior technical advisor and Yuri Tretyak, executive director of National Association of regional development agencies of Ukraine (RGD Project Secretariat). The purpose of the visit was to learn Czech experience with the regional policy and regional governance; to identify Czech experts and institutions for further cooperation; and to analyze options for organization of study tours for the project beneficiaries of the national and regional levels. Participants had a meeting with Jiri Patocka, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic as well as meetings with senior staff at the Centre of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, Czech Association of Development Agencies, Training Center for Public Administration of the Czech Republic, and Regional Office and Regional Development Agency of the Usti Region.

About the project

The Regional Governance and Development (RGD) Project is a seven-year initiative that promotes regional economic development (RED) in Ukraine. RGD’s current efforts focus on working with its Ukrainian partners to establish a practical in-service training program on RED for some 600 civil servants from 13 oblasts across Ukraine.
