International Workshop in Uzhgorod: "Successful Region, Successful Planning: Working with the Stakeholders" - June 13, 2006
On June 13 a workshop called “Successful Region, Successful Planning: Working with the Stakeholders” organized jointly by the project and Zakarpattya Regional Council and Zakarpattya Regional State Administration was held in Uzhgorod. During the workshop:

- main aspects and stages of strategic planning identified;
- a plan of the strategy of public engagement into the process of strategic planning of regional development elaborated;
- a plan of activities of the strategic planning process defined according to the schedule previously approved by the Project National Steering Committee;
- stakeholders identified and responsibilities among them defined;
- a Council for Regional Development established;

The workshop was led by regional experts of the project – Oleh Luksha and Oksana Stankevych. Project experts from Canada - Tibor Frank, lead international expert and Alan Vigoda, civil society expert, Foundation for International Training, and from Lithuania - Dalia Bardauskiene, advisor on strategic planning and regional development issues to the mayor of the city of Vilnius, also participated in the event.

About the project

The Regional Governance and Development (RGD) Project is a seven-year initiative that promotes regional economic development (RED) in Ukraine. RGD’s current efforts focus on working with its Ukrainian partners to establish a practical in-service training program on RED for some 600 civil servants from 13 oblasts across Ukraine.
